Pinion Bikes

The different HILITE models

HILITE Pinion bikes are available made-to-measure from titanium or aluminium as a touring bicycle or 650B hardtail frame MTB. All our aluminium frames are “Gates Belt Drive ready”, which means that the Gates Carbon Drive Belt can be installed. The Pinion P.1.18 is an 18-gear rotary shifter, which is fully integrated into the bottom bracket shell of the frame.

With our titanium Pinion bikes we have managed to create a small surprise. HILITE was the very first company ever to successfully install a Pinion P.1.18 rotary shifter into one of their titanium bikes and subsequently gain a wealth of experience with this novel shifting solution. The advantages of the P.1.18 shifter are well known and can be found on the Pinion homepage or in our blog (Advantages of Pinion). Pinion bicycle frames from HILITE Bikes from Basel is so far the only single Pinion bike maker in Switzerland.

We have been able to subject the new Pinion P.1.18 rotaryto a thorough test in our titanium bikes. Based on the positive experience we made, we decided to build an aluminium frame capable of housing P.1.18. The result was a 650B hardtail mountain bike that can also be assembled as a robust trekking/touring bike. Furthermore, the latest leap in technology by Gates Carbon Drive encouraged us to manufacture our frames in such a way that they are “Gates Belt Drive ready”. Our horizontally sliding drop-out is another highlight that makes fitting a chain tensioner redundant.

We invite you to visit our shop in Basel and take one of our Pinion P1.18 bikes for a test ride. Pinion bikes / bicycle frames from HILITE.
